Job Description

As a Forest School Teacher, you will be at the heart of our mission to cultivate a deeper connection between children and nature. Your role will involve designing and implementing engaging outdoor programs that promote curiosity, self-discovery, and resilience. You will have the freedom to support the learning experiences, utilizing the local environment as your classroom to spark wonder and a love for learning in our students.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and deliver nature-based lesson plans that align with the Forest School principles and the age-appropriate needs of the students.

  2. Foster a safe and supportive learning environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and teamwork among students.

  3. Lead outdoor activities, such as hiking, plant identification, nature crafts, and games, to enhance students' understanding of the natural world.

  4. Encourage environmental stewardship, respect for wildlife, and sustainability practices among the students.

  5. Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to create a sense of community within the school.

  6. Monitor and assess students' progress, providing constructive feedback and support for their individual growth.

  7. Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during outdoor activities and excursions.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Education, Environmental Science, Outdoor Education, or related fields.

  2. Forest School certification or relevant training in nature-based education is highly desirable.

  3. Previous experience working with children in an outdoor or experiential learning environment is an advantage.

  4. Passion for nature, environmental conservation, and the principles of Forest School education.

  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with children and collaborate with fellow educators and parents.

  6. Strong organizational as well as adaptive abilities.

  7. First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain one).

  8. Flexibility and adaptability to work in changing weather conditions and different outdoor terrains.
